North East Trauma Therapy
Welcome to
North East Trauma Therapy
At North East Trauma Therapy, we provide specialised, individualised trauma therapy, ensuring your specific needs are addressed.
Establishing a strong therapeutic alliance and a foundation of trust is fundamental to our approach.
Our focus is on addressing the effects of negative or traumatic experiences, enabling you to live the life you want.
Who is Trauma Therapy For?
You might want to access Trauma Therapy with us if:
You have accessed therapy before, but have not had the opportunity to focus on past issues or had the chance to process traumatic experiences from your past.
You have been on a long waiting list for trauma therapy.
You have not been offered a specialist therapy.
You have not accessed therapy before, but you now feel it is a good time to explore and work through your past issues.
You have accessed treatment in the NHS but felt that your needs were not met, for example if
-
You felt that the therapy you had wasn't tailored to you
-
You felt that the therapy was too focused on outcomes
-
You feel that your treatment was not long enough
-
You weren't offered enough sessions
-
You believe that you did not have your neurodivergence accounted for appropriately and accommodations weren’t made
Neurodivergent Affirming
At North East Trauma Therapy we understand neurodiversity, and because of that, we’re able to recognise the difference between neurodivergent traits and mental health symptoms. For example, things such as avoidance, distraction or needing extra time to process are sometimes misinterpreted as signs of something "wrong".
We understand that for neurodivergent people, this might just be part of how a brain fundamentally works, and not a problem to fix. To us, neurodivergence isn't a problem or an obstacle - it’s a different kind of strength. At North East Trauma Therapy we would want to build strength and resilience from there. Everyone's mind works in its own way, and we work to support that, not pathologise it.
We would consider your needs and your individuality in all of the decision making around your treatment. It is our priority to ensure that you feel represented, consulted and most importantly understood.

Providing a space that is validating and affirming, especially for those who have experienced racism, transphobia or other forms of discrimination. I understand that trauma often comes from being treated unfairly or excluded, and that those experiences are rooted in bigger systems of oppression - not something wrong with you. Supporting with seeing the full picture and honouring your story.
